Harry Harrison The second instalment of the Southern Sessions takes a turn to the darker side of rock. Not death metal by any means but sludgier and a bit more ominous. The vocal and lyrics have gotten angrier as well. The songs too have changed from catchy melodic tunes to big epic productions. Don’t get me wrong; this isn’t a bad thing; just a new evolution of StarTruckers and it is still awesome stuff. Favorite track: White Mountain.

Review from The Sludgelord (

The guys play Stoner Rock music the way it was meant to be played. Fast, Fresh with loads of Desert Sun Guitar Riffs. They pay homage to usual suspects of Stoner Music – KYUSS, Monster Magnet, Fu Manchu.

There is not one bad track on any of the EP’s. The guys are all excellent musicians. But the vocals make these guys standout from the rest of the Stoner Rock Genre.

I can hear influences of Chris Cornell, Roger Daltery through out both EP’s. He has hell of a voice that really adds to the music.

As stated before these are both excellent EP’s to own. But The Southern Sessions #2 is the best release out of the two. As they have heavier and longer tracks. Especially tracks like “The Walking Dead” and “White Mountain”. Just good time epic stoner rock tracks with cool vocals and even cooler guitar/drumming.

If these sessions are to show that we have a new Stoner Rock band to follow. Then I am sold as I want to see more of these outstanding Sessions as they call them.

Superb Stuff from StarTruckers.

So get downloading now. And you will have one of the coolest 31 mins of your summer here.
